Baby Bright: Bookworms
A Bright Books publication
We are ecstatic to share Baby Bright: Bookworms, a parent’s guide to early literacy for infants 6-9 months. This short book is filled with holistic learning activities— all developmentally appropriate, based on current evidence, and aligned with Bright Orthodoxy’s values.
Baby Bright: Bookworms, 6-9 months is the first in an anticipated series that progresses through preschool. Subsequent books will be for purchase but with the support of my church, I am offering this initial work as a free ebook. Download by clicking this link or contact us in the Facebook group to request your copy. Donations are gladly accepted, we are trying to cover the operating costs involved in an online marketplace.
Preface—
When considering early literacy instruction for their infant, parents who share our values face a dilemma. These parents recognize the importance of literacy in today’s increasingly text-driven world. Literacy grants autonomy, dignity, and the means to more fully connect with humanity. And yet, commercially available programs work in opposition to those end goals.
Many programs encourage young children to engage with objects or hinge on their passive consumption of educational media. In others, gimmicky, adult-led strategies disempower learners who should be growing into their agency. Parents searching for a more authentic approach are left to improvise and hope for the best.
Baby Bright: Bookworms offers these families a values-driven early literacy program that synthesizes science with instinct. These naturalistic Baby Bright strategies teach the foundational skills for self-directed learning on your child’s path toward early literacy.
Research evidence supports our approach, which is reflected in parenting strategies across pre-industrialized cultures. Unsurprisingly, these align with the Abrahamic principles of Bright Orthodoxy, as informed by scripture and ancestral knowledge— wisdom converges.
